Top executives and industry veteran shared their thoughts in TTAsia and Chevalier Information Security 2005 Luncheon Meeting

After years subsequent to the outbreak of Enron case and banking scandals, RISK management seems to be the only thing that matters. Information Security has been the topic of interest among government institutions and public corporations. In light of this, Telecommunications & Technology Asia Ltd. (TTAsia) and Chevalier (Network Solutions) Ltd. has partnered to organize Information Security 2005 to facilitate and create another platform for the industry's understanding on this issue.

On Friday January 14th, 2005, the kick-off activity of Information Security 2005 titled "Sarbanes-Oxley, Basel II, Corporate GovernanceˇKis already coming - what is the next step?" Luncheon Meeting co-organized by TTAsia and Chevalier (Network Solutions) Ltd. was held in the function rooms of The China Club in Central, Hong Kong. Over 30 prominent guests have spent an afternoon sharing an insightful presentation about Information Security while having a fine lunch together.

Keynote speaker - Mr. Pierre Noel from Consul Risk Management

The presentation by the industry veteran, Mr. Pierre Noel from Consul Risk Management, sparkled valuable exchange of ideas from the floor about the coming adoption of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), Basel II and Corporate Governance to banks and government institutions. His presentation included highlighted information about Operational Risk Management, Basel II and SOX. Details were further drilled down to the steps, challenges and advices to conform to these compliances.

Audiences from diversified industries, including banks (HSBC, Dah Sing Bank), government department (Hospital Authority) and the airline industry (Cathay Pacific) expressed their views on Information Security with enthusiasm. "SOX and Basel II serve to protect business and its education base have already begun. Some companies have even started implementing it." said Mr. Garry Willinge, Director of IBM Global Services. "It is a very fruitful and good presentation where serious business issues were addressed by TTAsia and Chevalier."

Mr. Alex Wong, Assistant Vice President (Information Technology) of Winterthur Life Hong Kong pointed out, "The presentation was very useful in a sense that many unattended critical issues have been sprung up - whether SOX should be controlled by a financial or IT party is among one of those that leave audiences with deep thoughts and debates." Mr. John Lauderdale, Senior Manager of Global Risk Management Solutions from PricewaterhouseCoopers appreciated some important key messages that were given to IT people and general business. He also stated the information provided by Mr. Pierre Noel is valuable and the scope of presentation is wide enough.

Apart from Pierre Noel's thought-provoking presentation, TTAsia and Chevalier (Network Solutions) Ltd have shared their mutual vision on the future partnership. A welcome speech was delivered by the Chief Executive Officer of TTAsia - Mr. Dinesh G Choithramani and the Assistant General Manger of Chevalier (Network Solutions) Ltd - Mr. Angus Ho respectively. More activities are lined up in the coming months to facilitate all industries' awareness on Information Security in 2005.
