Thousands of people have gathered at the "Apple Light" to celebrate the New Year's Eve. This year, apart from usual hit songs and entertaining feats performed by local artists and RTHK DJs, voluntary organizations have also joined the show to invite public support for victims of the disaster. Message of showing our love and care to others was being shared with the audiences through out the show.

Not only did the member of public experience the empathy and thrilling moments brought by the Countdown, there were more than 6000 online surfers shared the time together. Supported by Telecommunications and Technology Asia Ltd (TTAsia), people from any corners of the world can receive the real time Countdown broadcasted through Microsoft Window Media program. Recorded by TTAsia, there were people from America, Canada, Japan¡Ketc to witness the show simultaneously of the night.

TTAsia was chosen by RTHK to host and support RTHK ON INTERNET, the organization's web-based radio and television site to deliver RTHK's programs via Microsoft Windows Media streaming system since 200x. RTHK ON INTERNET provides round-the-clock live webcasts pf six radio channels and more than 11 hours of Chinese and English video productions a week.
